Run an A/B test on Bundles or the Cart Drawer

Section Store Plus can run A/B Tests on a published Bundle or an enabled Cart Drawer. Shoppers see Version A–D by traffic split, and you compare versions with paid-order results.

Before you start

  • You need Section Store Plus (A/B testing is included with Plus.).
  • For a Bundle: publish it first (Publish this Bundle before creating an A/B test.).
  • For Cart Drawer: enable the drawer and its app embed (Enable the Cart Drawer before creating an A/B test.).
  • When prompted, open Permission Required → Review Access Scopes so Shopify can connect the privacy-aware analytics pixel and read paid-order events.

Create an A/B test

  1. Open Section Store → Bundles / Quantity Breaks or Cart Drawer.
  2. Click A/B Tests (Compare Bundle and Cart versions using paid-order results.).
  3. Choose Bundles or Carts.
  4. Optional: click View sample report to see the report layout.
  5. Click Create new test.
    • Bundles: on Test a bundle, pick Bundle to test, then Create new test.
    • Carts: the draft is created right away.
  6. Or open a published Bundle / enabled Cart editor and click A/B test (or Create A/B test when it is available).

Set versions, traffic, and start

  1. A Draft opens (you can rename it with Edit test name / Test name).
  2. Under Versions, use Edit version (or open the Bundle/Cart editor via A/B test). Switch A–D with the version buttons; click Add version if you need more. Version A is the live item.
  3. Change that version’s Bundle or Cart settings and save in the editor.
  4. Back on the test, set Traffic split (total must equal 100%), then Save traffic or Split evenly.
  5. Optional: Preview a version.
  6. Click Start test.

Read results and finish

  1. Open the test for Key metrics, Funnel, Breakdown, and Result guidance.
  2. Optional: More actions → Export CSV.
  3. When you are done, click End test → choose Final version in Choose the final version → End test with selected version. Or use Publish this winner / Choose final version from the editor.

Tips

  • Recommended test duration: 2–5 weeks.
  • Running tests can pause when you hit Plus included visitor exposures — watch usage banners on the test.
  • From the Bundle or Cart editor you may see View running test, View paused test, or Choose final version.
  • Conversion Blocks are not available for A/B Tests.
